Guy began his career on the trading floor at Mandara, a privately owned oil trading firm he joined as a start-up operation. Over seven years he helped build it into the largest-volume player on the world’s largest oil exchange. He held Chief Operating Officer and Chief Strategy Officer roles and was the trusted commercial right hand to the CEO, becoming partner at 28.
Guy recognised negotiation as one of the highest-leverage capabilities in commercial life — and one of the most inconsistently applied. Most organisations negotiate constantly; few prepare and execute with the structure, discipline and objectivity the stakes deserve.
BreakPoint Black launched as a deliberately boutique negotiation and commercial consultancy. Clients work with Guy directly — not a committee, not a junior team.
The engagements have grown in size, complexity and criticality: major acquisitions, high-stakes commercial agreements, procurement synergies, founder disputes, investor situations and commercial value creation work where the outcome shapes the future of a business.
Negotiation is where commercial value is won or lost. The work is preparation, judgement and the discipline to execute the right move under pressure.
